On June 14, the Americans celebrate the prestigious Flag Day. The Flag day is named so as it was the day of adoption of the first national flag. This day is also known as the "Stars and Stripes" or "Old Glory". The Flag Day has been celebrated across centuries in various ways the most common being residents hanging the US Flag outside their homes. This is done in honor of the Flag on Tuesday.
The Flag Day is celebrated in memory of the first American flag which was approved by the Continental Congress on June 14th, 1777. In 1818, after 5 more states joined the Union, Congress passed legislation fixing the number of stripes at 13 and requiring that the number of stars equal the number of states.
