The prestigious Monaco Grand Prix was RED FLAGGED in bizzare circumstances when Vitaly Petrov's and Alguersuari's cars collided in the race. The race control decided the RED FLAG was appropriate as there was a lot of debris on the race track making it unsafe for the other drivers. This incident happened in lap 72 out of the scheduled 78 laps.
In reports coming in, Adrian Sutil seems to be the cause of the accident as he was slow coming out of the the tunnel section which made Lewis Hamilton take avoiding action. A RED FLAG situation means that the race is stopped and officials decide if there will be a restart.
In latest developments, the officials have decided to have a restart for the remaining 6 laps after the barriers are repaired. The race will start behind the safety car.
