The World Cup is just round the corner. Yes, it is back again after a gap of 4 years where all the cricketing nations around the world will come together and fight it out for the coveted trophy. The World Cup, once again, will be hosted in the Indian sub-continent with co-hosts India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.
The pitches here are very dry and is set to give the spectators a treat of a scrumptuous run-fest. The bouncers won’t quite work here but pace variations can do the trick. The ICC doesn’t want to take any chances on the umpiring front and has decided to use the Umpire Decision Review System (UDRS) for the semi-finals and the finals.
The mighty legends of the game will all gather under one roof probably for the last time in their careers which will make it a very memorable World Cup for them. There are no favourites as such to lift the trophy but if bookies and speculators are to be believed the Cup will be lifted by a country in the Indian sub-continent.
Critics also point out the 50-over format is no longer a crowd-puller over its T-20 counterpart. Whatever be the rumours spreading around, the World Cup fever is in the air, which can be felt by each and every cricket-lover. Let’s hope it is going to be a great World Cup with the best team lifting the trophy.
